This is flexible so that it can be spun into clothes and in addition asbestos have high tensile strength. Quite negative side effects are associated with asbestos among which the cause of mesothelioma, a type of lung disease comes first which is caused be asbestos. Thinking more asbestos exposure links to many others cancers such as esophageal, gastrointestinal, throat and colorectal.

Many other problems such as Asbestos warts, pleural plaques in the lungs, and diffuse pleural thickening could be the cause of this silicate mineral. Because of all these sins Asbestos has been banned from multiple uses

Asbestos a fibrous mineral found in nature in metamorphic form. Many workers are employed in digging asbestos from the rocks. This causes more risks to those workers as it is very hazardous. The three deadly diseases that affect the workers are lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.

Let us see all these three diseases in detail.

Mesothelioma:

This develops a kind of tumor around the abdominal or chest cavity and multiplies to various regions inside the human body. As it extends to other regions it is very hazardous and it is very risky one because the tumors developing inside are hard to find at the initial stage. Hence this is considered to be one of the deadliest diseases.

Asbestosis:

This is very common among people working in asbestos plant as they have more chances to inhale tiny pieces of asbestos fibers. This asbestos fiber causes irritation and inflammation in lungs. This is not the malignant disease at its initial stage but if not cured at its initial stage it will lead to some other disease and becomes deadliest. As there in no cure for this disease.

Lung Cancer:

This is the deadliest disease caused because of continuous exposure to asbestos. This causes the lungs to expand and transform in to another shape and leads to some other problems.

Asbestos extracted from a dense rock can be easily separated into fine fibers. This is used in building blocks as a main ingredient for various materials because of its high resistance to temperature, chemical inertness and strength. Even though the asbestos has varying uses it causes some serious health hazards.

Nearly 1.3 millions are exposed to asbestos in the construction company as well as in the products manufacturing using asbestos. The workers are in expose to asbestos during any demolition or renovation where the asbestos products are more in number.

This disease is more common among people working in asbestos all the time so people working in that atmosphere for one time or less frequent time don’t need to worry about the same. These fibers are very fine hence it is possible for that to suspend easily in air.

Since the hazards are very serious the asbestos regulations are planned to reduce their use and at the same time its use in manufacturing of other products. Continuous exposure to the fine asbestos fibers causes pneumoconiosis also called as asbestosis. This cause damages to lungs and it also makes the breathing very difficult as the stiffness in the lungs increases. All these shows that this is very dangerous to health as it lead to some kind of cancer.

The properties of this mineral are the main thing which makes it very popular i.e., they are fire resistant, chemical resistant, strong in nature, flexible and low electrical conductivity. Because of its unique nature and properties this is used in many industries for various purposes. Some of its uses are mentioned below.

As it has high resistance to fire, it is used in construction industry such as to build fireproof ceilings or surroundings.

Because of the same reason of fire proof this finds its use in textile industry to produce fireproof clothing as it is easier to weave into any cloth.

It is used to produce gaskets and pipes which are fire resistant.

This is used in steam engines as a lining material in 1828.

This is used to make floorings, brake linings, and clutch facings in automobiles for many years.

Also it is used in shipping industry.

Other than these the shocking news about this asbestos is that it is used in some toothpaste and surgical thread.

Asbestos entered into the market during 1700 and from that it is still being used in many industries. But this gained more popularity after the Industrial Revolution. After that it is used in manufacturing of many products such as steel pipes, steam pipes, hand held hair dryers where the main purpose of this asbestos is to prevent over heating, and in several household products.

This Asbestos comprises of six naturally occurring minerals that are incombustible at the same time that can be separable into filaments. The six naturally occurring minerals are chrysolite, amosite, crocidolite, anthophyllite, termolite and actinolite. In these the first three minerals are mostly commonly used in manufacturing products and in many industries.

Its versatility also makes it popular in the world. That includes resistance to electricity, fire resistance, and chemical resistance. Other than this it is very tensile in nature. Because of all these it is used in many industries and in manufacturing of many products.

Other than its various uses this has some disadvantages. It is very hazardous in nature because it causes one kind of cancer to people exposing to asbestos for long time. This is known as Mesothelioma Cancer which affects the lungs and heart cavity of the human working in asbestos plant as they have more exposure to it. This is a deadliest cancer affecting human but it is seen very rarely among people as it takes nearly 25 to 50 years to develop after exposure.

Asbestos which is a natural mineral found in the form of fiber is classified into two broad categories such as,
•	Serpentine group and
•	Amphibole group

Serpentine group:
This is a curly type of fiber hence the name serpentine and this is available in layered form. This serpentine group has only one member that is Chrysolite which is the most common among all asbestos.
This Chrysolite is also called as “white asbestos” and it is the most common type of asbestos which is used in many construction industries. As it is being used in more numbers this becomes the root cause for health problems caused by asbestos. It is used in many materials and they are fire proofing materials, insulation materials, asbestos clothes which is also fireproof, cement pipes and sheets, brake shoes and clutches of automobiles, disk pads, textiles, paper, plastic, rubber and also in nuclear industry.

Amphibole group:
This is the most hazardous type of asbestos and it is available in straight fibers with chain like structures and in this group there are five kinds of asbestos.
Amosite and crocidolite are the fibers of this kind which are hazardous in nature and the fibers of this type are very strong and stiff in nature. Other three types of asbestos are not harmful.

Fibers once inhaled they start penetrating the soft tissues of the body, where they could cause lung disease or mesothelioma–a humiliating cancer. It mainly affects lung, heart and lining of chest cavity.

Therefore any activity that harms the stability of asbestos should be under the supervision of qualified professional trained for asbestos abatement and outfitted with proper protective clothing because near demolition site any fiber could remain airborne for a long time, and can be carried through the air or on fabric.

As the work is not done consistently doesn’t means the demolition site is away from the contamination of asbestos.

The houses that were built in 1970’s, may contain asbestos. Thus for safety of your family, one should make sure that fibers are not exposed.

Asbestos is prized for its pliability and its heat resistance as it is a natural mineral.
Early in 1900s, asbestos leads to lung problems, and US government does not take any steps to curb its use till 1970’s. So if there is damaged asbestos, contact a professional as to remove or repair it.

And there are some cases so that it becomes less expensive also have safe option is to seal off the asbestos or to cover it well. But if you go for removing the material than it will be messy as well as complicated process which entails following strict zoning and health ordinances.

If you have a microscope then you can positively identify the asbestos.
Asbestos was commonly used in 1970s that was in this type of products: pipe insulation;
furnace and boilers ducts; millboard; cement sheet and also the paper used as insulation around furnace; backing on vinyl floor sheets and resilient floor tiles; sound-proofing and
decoration materials that were sprayed on ceiling and walls ; shingles and house siding. So I think if you have to concern about any other items in your home then contact an asbestos expert.
Inhaling asbestos fibers can increase the risk of cancer(lungs cancer and also mesothelioma which is cancer of chest lining). Many people inhale the small amount of asbestos during their whole life without any adverse affects. But if lager amount of asbestos is inhaled then risk would be greater. Asbestos professional can perform a range of services but confirm that the asbestos professional has completed state training course.
