In construction of a building, some Asbestos is contained in form ceiling, insulation, floor tiles or spray-on soundproofing materials etc. so of Asbestos containing material remain in place then it could not become airborne and when the fibers are crushed they separate in many smaller that they could be inhaled.
Fibers once inhaled they start penetrating the soft tissues of the body, where they could cause lung disease or mesothelioma–a humiliating cancer. It mainly affects lung, heart and lining of chest cavity.
Therefore any activity that harms the stability of asbestos should be under the supervision of qualified professional trained for asbestos abatement and outfitted with proper protective clothing because near demolition site any fiber could remain airborne for a long time, and can be carried through the air or on fabric.
As the work is not done consistently doesn’t means the demolition site is away from the contamination of asbestos.
